Stringing
Stringing is one of the most common jewelry-making techniques. It simply means threading beads or other components onto a flexible material (like cord, wire, or thread) to create necklaces, bracelets, or anklets.
Materials for Stringing:
- Beading wire → strong, flexible, and perfect for heavier beads.
- Stretch cord → ideal for quick, clasp-free bracelets.
- Nylon / silk thread → traditional for pearls and finer beads (often knotted between beads).
Findings Used:
- Clasps (lobster, toggle, magnetic) → used with wire or thread.
- Crimp beads/tubes → hold the ends of beading wire securely.
- Bead tips / knot covers → tidy up thread ends.
Design Flexibility:
- Stringing allows endless customization—mixing bead sizes, colors, spacers, charms.
- You can go simple (just beads in a row) or more complex (patterns, alternating textures).
