Bead Loom Weaving
Bead loom weaving is a technique that uses a bead loom (a small frame) to create beadwork with straight rows and columns. It’s one of the easiest ways to make flat, patterned designs—like bracelets, chokers, or strips you can sew onto clothing or bags.
How it works:
- Warp threads (long threads) are stretched across the loom.
- Beads are strung onto a weft thread (cross thread) and positioned between the warp threads.
- The needle then passes back through the beads, locking them above the warp threads.
- This process is repeated row by row, forming a tight, fabric-like panel of beads.
Features:
- Produces very straight, grid-like designs (perfect for patterns, names, and pictures).
- Strong and durable.
- Much faster for large pieces compared to off-loom stitches.
- Requires a loom (though you can make DIY versions from cardboard or wood if you don’t want to buy one).
Think of it as “bead tapestry” work—similar to weaving cloth, but with beads instead of threads.
